Some Brazil Coffee Areas Seen Colder Than Normal This Week: MDA

     April 29 (Bloomberg) -- In next 2 days, temperatures may
drop to as low as 48 degrees Fahrenheit (8.9 Celsius) in
southeastern Minas Gerais, the top coffee-producing state,
Donald Keeney, a meteorologist with Gaithersburg, Md.-based MDA
Weather Services, said in telephone interview.
  * Chill may accelerate ripening of beans, he said
  * Avg readings typically 58 degrees this time of yr
  * There’s no threat to coffee trees as highest probability for
    damaging frost occurs from mid-June to early August: Keeney
  * Showers this wk should favor soil moisture for flowering in
    some Vietnamese areas, forecaster says in e-mailed report
  * NOTE: Brazil is world’s top coffee producer and exporter,
    followed by Vietnam
