Arabica-Coffee Futures Dip to Lowest Price Since April 2009

NEW YORK-Arabica-coffee futures fell to the lowest point since April 2009
Tuesday as robust bean supplies continued to weigh on prices.
Arabica coffee for delivery in December on ICE Futures U.S. fell as low as
$1.1320 a pound, the lowest intraday price for the most actively-traded
contract since April 22, 2009. The contract was recently trading 0.2% higher at
$1.1350 a pound.
"The fundamentals are the same," said Hernando de la Roche, a senior vice
president at brokerage INTL FCStone. He said recent rains in Brazil--the
world's biggest coffee grower--will help the development of next year's crop.
The country has had back-to-back bumper crops, and another large crop could add
to swelling global supplies of arabica beans.
Prices could fall to $1.2500 a pound in the near-term, Mr. de la Roche added.
